There was little planned about this image. From time to time the red squirrel will jump around in a fairly erratic fashion, almost in a playful way. It will occasionally stop, often beside a tree that it will use for protection, and have a look around to spot any danger.

On this occasion I was able to use the dead heather to diffuse the foreground and catch focus on the squirrel as it stopped very briefly to have a look around.
