In the Spotlight
I mentioned in the previous image my preference not to tinker too much with nature but rather use what it has provided.
The tree that this squirrel is sitting on is one of the fallen trees in the this image
On this occasion I was greeted with a light dusting of snow that lingered on the fallen tree. The red squirrel was in peak condition coupled with impressive ear tuffs. The light was moving in and out but I know when it reached a particular angle the background would be thrown into shadow removing any distracting highlights and the fallen tree and squirrel would be illuminated.
At the time of year, the heather has turned a brownish colour as it is effectively dead and this will complement the colour of the squirrel nicely in my experience
